General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Sir,

Welcome to Health Care Magic. I have gone through your query and I understand your concern.

Cervical dysplasia is a precancerous condition in which abnormal cell growth occurs on the surface lining of the cervix or endocervical canal, the opening between the uterus and the vagina. Cervical dysplasia can range from mild to severe, depending on the appearance of the abnormal cells.

Dysplasia could resolve on its own or, rarely, it could develop into cancer. In order to determine the severity of cervical dysplasia, I the would recommend your wife takes the test:
-A human papillomavirus (HPV) test
-Colposcopy, which is an examination of the cervix, vagina and vulva using a magnifying instrument. It may help for determining where the abnormal cells are growing and the degree of abnormality. During this procedure a small sample (biopsy) may be may be taken for testing.

Hope I answered to your question. Feel free to ask again.

Take Care,
Dr. Ina Zaimi

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Th pap test shows presence of dysplasia.
Dysplasia cells usually progress into malignant cells.
In addition, the report shows presence of inflammatory cells.
Infammation may sometimes be associated with dysplasia thus I suggest you to take anti-microbial therapy for infection/ inflammation and get pap smear repeated.
Persistance of dysplastic cells even after anti-microbial treatment suggests true dysplasia.
In this case, biopsy of the affected part of cervix needs to be done.

Thanks and take care
Dr Shailja Puri
